My New Year Holiday

New Year, my favorite holiday, is one of the most celebrated days in the world. Some young people go to get parties and others stay at home with their family. since I was a teenager, so my parents forbid to celebrate New Year's Eve a night long outside. So I decided to celebrate it with my big family. It was not a bad decision indeed.
So my family and I went to my grandmother’s house in Ubud to celebrate new year’s eve. We went to Ubud at 8 am. At first, I’m not really feel good because the family members didn’t complete. That was because my brother couldn’t leave his job because he told me that he was very busy in that time. After that I felt really sad and confusion because I miss him very much. It had been a long time that we didn’t meet each other. But I tried to enjoy every second with my family before the holiday ends.
I spent 30 minutes to Ubud. Then my cousin came to me and she told me that she had waited for me. My cousins took me to round the village by bicycle. We went to Tegalalang together to see rice terrace. I was really amazed by the beauty and serenity of the view. After we took a photo together we went home.
Arrive at home, I helped my mother and my aunt to prepared the food for New years eve. We would make satay and “setupan”. Setupan is a delicous drink that contains a lot of fruits. I also bought a lot of fireworks. At 8 pm all the preparation have already done. We held a big dinner with a lot of tasty foods, snacks and drinks. For me, the best thing in New year’s eve is when we celebrated it with our beloved family. While waited for midnight, we watched movie at the living room.
It was about midnight and we lighted fireworks. After we celebrated it, we made a New Year’s resolution. My NY Resolution is to be more discipline and not to spend a lot of money over a useless thing.

Bunch of Poem: Invictus

Invictus

By William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Speech: Batur Geopark

Hello, kali ini ada naskah pidato buat lomba di sekolah. Temanya tentang Batur Geopark.

Langsung ajadeh, here is the speech..

Creating Prosperous Bangli Trough Sustainable Development of  Batur Geopark
Batur Geopark is the most unique geopark in the world because It is the only geopark where the mountain and the lake are located side by side. Spiritually,  it is also believed that it is the meeting place of Lingam, the male representation of God and Yoni, the female representation of God, and this encounter is also believed to  bring  prosperity to the  universe.  So on this lovely occasion I would like to deliver  a speech about  “ Creating prosperous Bangli through sustainable development of  Batur Geopark.
First of all, I would like to deliver about the importance and the advantages of Batur Geopark.
Today we know that mount and lake  Batur have  become a part of Global Geopark Network that the UNESCO has declared in September 20th 2012 Geopark is an area with an expressed geological heritage and a strategy for a sustainable economic development, and the promotion of that very development to the benefit of the local community.
Batur Geopark has become the pride of Indonesia that has many advantages since it has been awarded as Global Geopark Network. Batur Geopark can be a learning resource for the student, the teachers and also the scientist. Where not only student from Bali but also  other students from other regencies and provinces .  The studens  who are doing study tour that usually only visit Kuta beach, Nusa Dua, Uluwatu, or centre of handicraft have  changed  their destination to go to Batur Geopark. Where they can know what Geopark is, how the geopark impact to the local people, how communities work and what challenges of the local people have to face, while the student enjoying their study tour.
Batur has been long become an icon of tourism for not only Bangli, but also Bali. Batur Geopark has beautiful panorama with cool environment. The area around mount Batur offer to see a beautiful sunrise that cannot be  seen  in the  other places. In 2012 the number of visitors who come to Caldera approximately 500,000 people, while the previous year was only about 300,000 people. This year the number of visitors who come to the Caldera is expected to reach 600,000. This shows the number of tourists who are interested to visit this beautiful place.
As a tourism object, Batur Geopark has many impact to the local people. Show that many tourist visit this place, there are many business developing in this area, like the guide getting many job to guide the tourist, the people near Batur can sell the souvenirs more than before, the restaurant has many visitors, the lodging around Batur has many client. If there are many businesses it will bprovide  many job vacancies. That can be favorable to the local people who do not have a job. So it can increase the income of the local people.
Second , I would like to tell you about the problems that have to be  faced by the Batur Geopark.   In spite of the natural beauty that Batur has, there are a lot problems that can reduce and even destroy the beuaty of  the geopark. First, there  are illegal sand mining and rock stealing. Illegal sand mining can cause a serious problem because it will damage the environment. . At the foot of the north mountain area has long been dredging the bowels of the earth increasingly severe. Sand that had been overgrown with beautiful fir trees now become extinct population. It is not possible a few years into the future, the people in the region will  experience similar disaster like what has happned in  Lapindo case. The possibility of more severe because it occurred at the foot of the volcano. It means that out is not just mud, but lava. So the government  should work hand in hand with the community to  stop the sand mining and rock stealing to keep the preservation of mount Batur. If it is not urgently stopped, It will be like killing the goose with the golden egg, The Batur area will be ceased to be global geopark, and the visitors will move somewhere else like going to China where this country really preserve its own Geopark.
Besides that, there are several annoying vendors that disturb the visitors around Mount Batur. Actually it can decrease the visitor of mount Batur because the visitors can’t enjoy the scenery and the serenity of Batur because the annoying vendors chase impatiently the visitors until they want to buy their products. The government should give socialization to the vendors to sell their products in their stalls and make a strict regulation to the annoying vendors.
Beside those problem above, there is also problem like visitors and also the local people still throw the plastic garbage to the nature. And the local people burn the plastic rubbish on their back garden. If it is not stop it will degrade the quality of the environment nearby the geopark and it can also destroy the peacefulness of the Geopark.  So the government must provide enough garbage bins around the Area and encourage the visitors and the local people not to throw  and burn the garbage into nature.
Ladies and gentleman, those are the problem that happen around mount Batur,  Batur caldera and the surrounding area which  are part of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network. The challenges remain as the provincial and regional administrations have yet to fully regulate the ongoing illegal quarrying in the area. As the final consequence, UNESCO will evaluate the area and could revoke the geopark status if its requirements have not been fulfilled. So if we want the UNESCO still admit mount Batur as Global Geopark Network, we should keep the preservation and increase the facility that can make a betterment of the Batur Geopark
Looking at the problem above  Then I would like to give some suggestion so that Geopark can bring prosperity to the people of Bangli.
First, The government should  give other job opportunities to the local miners as to work in tourism sector. The government can also add spa facilities which utilize sources of hot water around that area. The government should also provide training for the effective use of the stones in Batur, Rather than it is sold cheaply for the housing material, the small rock of stones can be formed into  interesting statues that can be worth of 1 truck of stone, so that it will make more income to the local people and without massively destroying the nature.
The government should do  regular reforestation for the bold forest on that area, because regular reforestation not only help to keep the balance of nature but also make the scenery more beautiful that can attract the visitors to come. Provide enough garbage bins because if the visitors difficult to find the garbage bins, they will lazy to look for it and finally they just throw the plastic garbage into the nature. Limited facilities, a lack of hygiene and cleanliness in the area are the other reasons that made travel agents reluctant to take their clients there.
Then, I would like to give some suggestion to the students. Let’s  study hard so that we just won’t be a poor servant on our rich house. Most of hotel managers in Bali are not local people, and most of us just become a low class staff.  It happens because we do not study hard to fight for that Tourim cheese so that we can’t  live prosperously on our beautiful island..
Ladies and gentleman that’s all of my speech,  May all people in Bangli  become prosperous  through the sustainable development of  Batur Geopark,  And God Bless you all

Time for Storyteller: "Jayaprana and Layonsari"

Hello, ini adalah salah satu cerita yang pernah aku bawakan sewaktu lomba storytelling. Cerita cinta ini berasal dari Bali. Cerita ini telah disunting sedemikian rupa. So here is the story..

A long time ago in the kingdom of Kalianget, a small village in North Bali, there lived a powerful king, whose name has long been forgotten. It happened an epidemic struck the whole village, killing most of villagers. One of the few survivors was I Nyoman Jayaprana, and then he live in the palace to serve the King.
In the palace Jayaprana grew up to become a handsome, brave and intelligent young man and became the favorite of the palace maids. The King thought it was time for Jayaprana to be married. “Please, you’re Majesty! I’m not intended to reject the word of the King. I want to get married but not with the palace maids. If permitted, I want to seek a wife outside the palace” said Jayaprana with respect. “Well Jayaprana if that’s what you want. I’m not going to stop you to choose a wife according to the choice of your heart,” said the King. Then, he went to the market and he saw a very beautiful girl, called Ni Nyoman Layonsari, and fell in love with her at the first sight. Layonsari too, later fell in love with Jayaprana, and then the couple were engaged to married.
Soon, the wedding took place at the palace. Everybody was so happy. However, the King was not happy at all. After the wedding party, the King ordered his loyal man, Maha Patih Saunggaling. “Layonsari is too precious for a servant like Jayaprana. I want her! So that’s why I ordered you go to Teluk Terima, and kill Jayaprana there, but not let Layonsari know about this” he said.
The following day, Jayaprana got an order from the King. He was go to Teluk Terima with Maha Patih Saunggaling. Before leaving for the battle Jayaprana gave Layonsari a message; “Layonsari, My beautiful wife, if this flower turns wilted, it indicates that I’m killed. I believe, if you’re wait faithfully for me, our love will exist forever” Layonsari became very sad, then Layonsari sang for Jayaprana with her deepest heart.
After arriving in the jungle, Saunggalin gave Jayaprana a letter from the King, it read; “Jayaprana I have ordered you to this place because I want to get rid of you. Saunggaling will cut your head and Layonsari shall be my wife.”
After reading the letter Jayaprana knew that this only a trap. Saunggaling then killed him.
Meanwhile, in the palace, Layonsari was convinced that something bad had happened to her husband, then the flower that given by her husband has been wilted.
“Layonsari, I feel very sorry that my beloved man, your husband, has died in the fight in Teluk Terima. I understand how difficult it is for you to face this, therefore I’ve come here to propose you to be my wife,” he said.
“No, impossible. I’d rather die, than be slaves to marry someone who had killed my husband!” Layonsari refused him firmly, then Layonsari run to the kingdom’s weapon stored, the king ran after her quickly, but it was too late. Layonsari pick up a keris and stabbed her self. Blood gushed from her body. “Layonsari! What are you doing! Are you crazy?!” the King screamed, knowing that he had failed.
